Hello Friends!
I wrote the below prose poem for all those struggling with darkness, with fear, with uncertainty. Sometimes when I’m in that place, I find it helpful to remember there is always someone to help us through it, if we will only reach out.
Wishing you a joyous full moon night!
Until next time,
Jan
Moon Mother
She rises to arc across the sky, bright lamp a path for spirits, for wise-women, for seekers. I ask her to light my way as I stumble though the thick darkness of my soul. She responds quietly, her hand beckoning, gentle and calm. Though she is pearlescent as mist, I’m awed by her strength, her vision, her wisdom. I let her envelop me in mystery, and she invites me to explore the darkness with her. Shivering, I follow blindly, my hands reaching forward, grasping at air. She guides me, sings her knowledge, gives me just enough freedom until I feel safe.
In time I find it, the thing in the fog that frightened me into silence, into fear, into destruction. It’s cold and shriveled and dead. She tells me how much power I gave it, how much it depleted my will. She feeds me moon-milk, strokes my hair, whispers secrets only the night can know.
Just before sunrise I’m drunk with love, nourished by the shadows that once stalked me. Smiling, she fades with the dawn. But I will welcome her again tonight.

Just beautiful, Jan. This prose poem really gets to the heart of those things that only seem to have power over us, if we let them. I love the moon and her comforting ways.
