An introverted, unknown writer, fond of the shadows, wondering if stepping into the light is worth it. Sharing the ugly as well as the shiny. Thoughts, inspiration, and tips for writers and other kindred spirits. Occasional stories, novel chapters, book reviews, witchy culture and snaps of foxgloves.
Welcome to Phantoms, Foxgloves & Fiction!
My name is Jan and I’m a fledgling writer who has published stories in Grasslimb, Peregrine, Primavera, Vine Leaves Literary Journal, The Avalon Literary Review, and Persephone Literary Magazine (all under another name except for The Avalon). I enjoy writing different types of stories, including literary, fairy tale, and paranormal. In my spare time I nurture orchids, paint watercolors, and enjoy walking with my husband near our home in New Jersey. For more, follow me on Instagram.
I began writing years ago and published a few short stories in literary journals, then gave up. I didn’t give up writing, just submitting to magazines and publishers. I’d lost confidence in my writing, and didn’t know what I wanted my stories to be. In a way, I’m still figuring that out, but I think I’m getting closer.
In Phantoms, Foxgloves & Fiction I share my love of books, nature, magic, supernatural art and my own short stories and novel excepts. You’ll also find inspirational posts and publishing and writing tips that have worked for me.
If you’re an aspiring writer or if you’re a reader who likes discovering new writers, I look forward to connecting and sharing with you!
